The view from my house: Pole installation underway along the right side of the 11th hole fairway at Cove View Golf Course.

It has been eight years since I moved into my home along the 11th hole next to Cove View Golf Course. To say they have been bad neighbors is an understatement.

During those eight years, my house, my property, my vehicles, me, my visitors and their vehicles, have been subjected to at least a weekly, if not almost daily, barrage of balls being hit off the poorly positioned tee box on the 11th hole.

My house borders that hole and fairway. All those items mentioned in the last paragraph have been damaged.

The golf course and Richfield City have erected netting along the 11th fairway next to my house. The nets have been ineffective. They’re not tall enough. I have to make sure all the vehicles I have at my house are garaged to protect them from golf balls. I have to make sure my guests park as close to the netting as possible to try to avoid golf ball damage, however, cars still can get hit by ricocheting golf balls.

I’ve gotten hit. On July 4th, I was struck in the shoulder by a golf ball. Good thing it didn’t hit me a few inches higher, in the head. I might have wound up with a much more serious injury than a sore shoulder.

This needs to end. My other neighbors along my street also adjacent to the 11th hole feel the same way.

Richfield City, Cove View Golf Course, let’s end this attack by golf ball. Eight years. It’s gone on long enough.
